NFL DFS Lineup Optimizer
Frequently Asked Questions
The BluecollarDFS NFL optimizer builds DraftKings, FanDuel and Yahoo lineups for classic and single-game slates from our own projections. Free builds 2 lineups at a time; Premium ($17.99 per month) builds up to 150 and adds QB stacking, flex control, exposure controls and late swap position locking.
How does the NFL DFS Optimizer work?
Our optimizer uses up-to-date projections and your custom settings to find the mathematically optimal lineups for a given slate. You can lock players you love, ban players you hate, and adjust settings like player stacks and max salary to build lineups that fit your strategy.
What are Stacks in NFL DFS?
Stacking means pairing a quarterback with one or more of his teammates. The most common stack is a QB with a WR or TE, as you get points for both the pass and the catch. Our optimizer also supports stacking a QB with a Running Back, or even stacking an RB with their team's Defense (DEF/DST) for a 'game script' correlation.
What does the 'Minimum Unique Players' setting do?
This setting controls how much player overlap there is between your generated lineups. A value of '2' means each lineup will have at least two different players than every other lineup. This is a great way to diversify your portfolio of lineups for large tournaments.
Can I use this optimizer for DraftKings, FanDuel, and Yahoo?
Yes! We support classic and single-game NFL slates on DraftKings, FanDuel, and Yahoo. Select your preferred site and slate, and the optimizer uses the corresponding salaries, roster rules, and scoring.
Does the NFL optimizer support Yahoo Single Game contests?
Yes. Yahoo NFL Single Game lineups have one SUPERSTAR earning 1.5 times fantasy points and four FLEX players. Selecting a player as SUPERSTAR does not increase their salary. The optimizer uses the salary budget provided by the selected contest rather than assuming the $200 classic budget. Available single-game slates appear alongside classic slates.
What is position locking and how does it help with late swap?
Position locking is a Premium feature that lets you lock a player into a specific lineup slot — for example, locking a RB into the FLEX spot or keeping a WR in a specific WR slot. This is critical for late swap on sites like DraftKings, where early-game players are already locked into positions on your roster. By setting the exact slot, the optimizer knows which positions are still open and can find the best players to fill them.
How do the 'Flex Positions' and 'Max Exposure' settings work?
The 'Flex Positions' setting lets you control which positions the optimizer is allowed to use in the FLEX spot, giving you more control over your lineup construction. 'Max Player Exposure' lets you set a cap on the percentage of lineups a single player can appear in. For example, setting it to 50% means no single player will be in more than half of your generated lineups, which is a key strategy for managing risk in tournaments.
How are BluecollarDFS NFL projections built?
With our own multi-step process, refined over several seasons of NFL DFS. We combine a range of data and projection inputs and weight them by how reliable they've proven, remove numbers that are far out of line with the rest, flag late injuries when most inputs mark a player out, and handle defenses and kickers with their own rules. Each site is calculated separately, and projections update through the week as news breaks.
How often do NFL projections update?
NFL projections update throughout the week, with the pace picking up as Sunday approaches. Injury reports, practice participation and depth chart changes are reflected as they come in. Final updates happen close to lock as inactive lists are confirmed and late-breaking news is reflected.
